Warsaw offers rich and unique shopping experience. It is probably less known than some European counterparts, but since recent times provides comprehensive retail therapy for those who want to embark on it in less famous, though equally decent settings.

The main shopping streets are the restored ulica Chmielna, elegant Nowy Swiat, ulica Marszalkowska and aleje Jerozolimskie. Shopping arcades became very popular. Galeria Centrum at ulica Marszalkowska and the newest and trendiest Arkadia, aleja Jana Pawla II, have the outlets of established brands as Levi's, Zara, H&M. There often are cinemas and restaurants.

Galeria Mokotow remains a popular shopping mall, thought it ceded its status of the biggest one to Arkadia. Zlote Tarasy, opened in February, 2007 is a grand shopping gallery and entertainment center. The Giant Tesco store seems endless from inside, offering almost all the imaginable goods.

The best place for souvenirs is the Old Town, with hundreds of little shops, artist stalls  and street vendors, offering everything related to Polish crafts. The Cepelia stores are also worth a visit for handicrafts such as lace, dolls, amber and silver jewellery and leather goods. Polish leather is very popular in the world, it can be found even in New York stores, competing with Italian one.

In the popular Praga District next to Poniatowskiego Bridge is located the largest European flea market, called the Russian Market. It sells various useful and completely useless items, Soviet oddities, leather goods, fur coats, bootleg CDs and various trinkets. It opens daily from 0600, one should come early for best deals. There some other unique locations, selling genuine crafts of incomparable appeal. They are mainly small upscale family shops. Northern Gold presents a huge variety of silver and gold jewelry with Baltic Amber. Idea Vetro Glassware features modern designs and old manual technologies.
